Riverside Live Music & Comedy 5/24-30/2022
Eva @ The Fox, Riverside Philharmonic Spring Finale, 'Til Indigo @ The Concert Lounge top a healthy late-May music lineup
Pick of The Week: Eva Mikhailovna at Spike & Mike's Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation

Summer Getting Cooler And Acoustic Under The Stars
Feels more like just before summer everyday right now. The morning overcast turns into hazy sun and the evenings are cool but not biting cold like they were a few weeks ago.
There are still only two summer series underway but we hear the City of Riverside concerts in Fairmount Part will return for four weeks in July.
Saturday night in Mission Grove, Romano's Summer Acoustic Patio Series features Riverside's own One Man Jam, Paul Olives on the acoustic patio.
TUESDAY MAY 24 7:00PM: The Marvels (Redlands, rock country) | Canyon Crest Towne Centre, 5225 Canyon Crest Dr | free | all ages
SATURDAY MAY 28 8:00PM: Paul Olives (Riverside, acoustic folk jam) | Romano's Mission Grove, 285 E Alessandro Bl, (951) 780-7399 | no cover | all ages
And for Those Not Excited by Rock Or Country Or...
Sometimes you just need a night with the Philharmonic.
The Riverside Philharmonic has you covered with their 2022 Spring Finale, Saturday night at the RCC Coil Concert Hall. The concert features compositions by Mieczysław Karłowicz, Jan Sibelius and Max Bruch. Guest artist Fiona Shea will perform Bruch's Violin Concerto #1 in G minor, Op. 26.
If that's a little too formal, may we suggest Riverside's Jazz Works at the Packinghouse Brewing Company. Enjoy great craft beer and music in the brewery itself. Casual and cool, indeed.
SATURDAY MAY 28 7:30PM: Riverside Philharmonic Spring Finale | RCC Coil Concert Hall, 3890 University Av | Tickets $60-$80 | all ages
SATURDAY MAY 28 7:00PM: Jazz Works (Riverside, jazz) | Packinghouse Brewing Company, 6421 Central Av, (951) 333-9261 | no cover | all ages
These Mics Are Not Closed
In case you missed it last week, Patrick Maloney (yep, same guy that's putting on Spike & Mike) is throwing three welcoming open mics in seven days: Tuesday at The Hideaway (live music & comedy 21+), Wednesday at Back To The Grind (live music only, all ages), and Thursday at Euryale Brewing Co (live music & karaoke, all ages).
And if that's not enough opportunity, on Thursday you can groove across town to Cecilio Alvarez's Open Mic at the Packinghouse Brewing Company!
Quite a fine deal for aspiring Inland Empire performers, if you ask me.

But What About Lake Alice?
Don't worry. Lake Alice is right there doing their consistent thing as they have since the last century. The songs you know, the drinks you love, and so forth. I had many crazy nights in that room (before and after the early 1990s expansion) playing music with my homies. It's one thing downtown that is same as it ever was.
FRIDAY MAY 27 9:00PM: Blue Haze Band (Inland Empire, blues rock) | Lake Alice, 3616 University Av, (951) 686-7343 | $10 after 8:45 | 21+
SATURDAY MAY 28 9:00PM: 4 Alarm Band (Orange County/Los Angeles, top 40 dance '80s) | Lake Alice, 3616 University Av, (951) 686-7343 | $10 after 8:45 | 21+
